Spoiler Alert! It was disgusting.
I’ve been waiting until I could find the new Nestlé Vital Pursuit meals. They were supposed to all be out in October, but it wasn’t until December that I found the first two in Orlando. I found more when I went to San Antonio in December, though.
See how Lean Cuisine stuck a couple of their new “Life Cuisines” GLP-1 dinners in there, too?
The choices I had seen in Orlando both had red meat or pork in them, so I wasn’t able to taste them until something came out that either had no meat or it had chicken on it that I could eat.
A few days ago, I found the Cheese Pizza. Yay! I could finally taste something!
Here’s my unboxing:
Cooking and final product.
Verdict
It was vile. The crust is cauliflower. Out of the package, it smelled like cauliflower. In the microwave, it reeked of cauliflower. Eating it, it tasted like cauliflower with a teaspoon of sauce and no-taste cheese.
And I like cauliflower! Just not in my pizza.
I threw half of it away and it smelled so bad, I had to take the garbage outside to get rid of that awful cauliflower smell.
Who the heck did they taste test these on?
Packaging
The Vital Pursuit packaging is really poorly done. It took a magnifying glass to find these in the freezer. The box is so simple and so boring, who can see them? Good lord, Nestlé, who did your packaging design? It sucks!
As I said, opening the box was not easy and the instructions vague.
I really encourage Nestlé to go back to the beginning and try again. Yes, we on GLP-1s would love to have custom foods for us, but they have to taste good, too!
I will be sticking to my Lean Cuisines and Healthy Choices for now.
The Downsized’s Taste Test
Christopher and Laraine Durham did a tasting of a couple of Vital Pursuit dinners after Nestlé sent them some. Here’s their taste test on their YouTube channel “The Downsized.”
Will I be trying the other new ones when they finally arrive in my Publix? Not if it’s made of cauliflower!
Have you tried any of these Vital Pursuit dinners? Let me know in the comments if you give them a thumbs up or down.
Thank you Barb for all your knowledge! I learn so much from you. I will stick to my healthy choice meals. I do not like their beef though. I just had some pizza from a restaurant and I hadn’t had pizza in months! Cauliflower pizza, ack. I did recently see these meals in our frozen section at the store I go to but I didn’t try them. I’m trying hard to lower my stubborn cholesterol right now. I just had my labs done and all is good except my cholesterol is through the roof. (And eating pizza was before I knew my numbers.) So I have more work to do and 40 more pounds to lose yet as well. So keep updating your ideas and paving the path for us all to follow, lady! If you happen to like one of them meals then I’ll be brave to try one lol!
Love ya bunches❣️❣️
Thank you, dear Robin! I am glad I can play guinea pig for us all. HAHA!
Let *me* know what you find new, too, so I can test it. We might have a new career in the making.
You got it❣️❣️
I did find this honey that has jalapeno in it I’m hooked on. I add a drizzle of honey to my Greek yogart as it’s plain so this adds a little kick to it. It’s shaped like a bottle of booze so I get the looks when I buy it!! If your interested I’ll post ya the name of it and stuff. I’m in Minnesota, so I’m sure we have different stuff. I need some hot spice as we are entering some cold days ahead!!
🤗 Hugs tight
For being Cuban, I missed out on the spicy tongue gene. What you shared sound vile. Besides, I despise Greek yogurt! I know, I’m a weirdo. I do love yogurt, though, just not Greek. Blech.
Glad you enjoy it!!
I never was much for spicy stuff either. I think I just tolerate a lot of foods. This whole eating this amount of this and getting this amount of that, every day is a struggle for me as I never did any of this before. So Greek yogurt is highest in protein and I get it plain so as to avoid the sugars and I do the adding in my own way. IV never been one to journal either, so thing else that’s new to me. This whole journey has been quite interesting. Cholesterol is a whole new ballgame for me as now I have to figure out what causes that to go up. Is there a perfect balance on these foods? Seems if I omit salt from the diet it’s replaced by sugar omit sugar it’s replaced by salt… A never ending battle.
I’m determined though, so it’s not going to bother me. What I’m trying to acquire a taste for is steel cut oats. Without adding the cream and sugar and butter it makes it hard to like this stuff but it’s supposed to be good to get rid of cholesterol so I’m trying to figure out how I can incorporate this into my diet. Any suggestions?
Robin, this might be best in an email, but let me start with: GOOD LORD WOMAN!!! You sure are putting a *lot* of energy into this. I would have quit long ago if I had tried to do what all you are doing. I’m impressed, but I would never do all of that. I have *not* done almost all of what you are doing. I sort of watch protein, but that’s about it. Otherwise, I let the medication do its thing.
So questions: What are your triglycerides? LDL? HDL? Not just total cholesterol, which is interesting, but not very helpful in the grand scheme of things.
Did your provider not explain that there is genetic high cholesterol and there is virtually nothing you can do about it besides take medication. If all your labs have gotten better and are now great, but your cholesterol still high, you have a high chance of the genetic component.
Another reason your triglycerides might be low but cholesterols high is the Keto Diet.
If you want to email me at HealthAtAnyCost@Gmail.com, I am glad to explore things with you. I will not diagnose, but try to lead you on the path to discovery so you can talk to your provider about things.
Again, I am flabbergasted at all the energy you are expending on food choices. That would drive me mad!
